Day 35 of #40daysofgoodshit: Heard this gem from Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh in an interview with Oprah: “Enlightenment is always there, when you breathe in and if you are aware you are alive. And that is already a miracle, and [the] greatest miracle is to still be alive.”

Day 34 of #40daysofgoodshit: Over the weekend the rose bushes outside my office exploded. I got down on hands and knees to stop and smell this lovely at the end of the busy day.

Day 33 of #40daysofgoodshit: One friend reminded me of the beauty of the Baha’i Temple, an architectural wonder walking distance from home. Another provided me with drone photos many moons ago that I dug out of the archive. Humans can do awe-inspiring things when we want.

Day 32 of #40daysofgoodshit: Being in a room with hundreds of people from my spiritual tradition, counting down time in recovery from 58 years to one day. I love applauding and celebrating the transformation of defeat into victory.

Because I’m now a cup-changing Jedi, my coach James graduated me to making small repairs—spike seeding treated areas and replacing damaged turf using snazzy new nursery bent. Satisfying it is…learning new things in greenkeeping I am…pursue mastery I will. #greenhorngreenkeeper

Two years ago, Tom Doak added an original design to the Cradle of American Golf when Pinehurst Resort unveiled the new No. 10 course. It’s a stunner that has exceeded lofty expectations, with many players preferring Doak’s design to the recently renovated No. 4 and even Donald Ross’s famed No. 2. Best of all, the success of No. 10 has paved the way for the No. 11 course by Coore & Crenshaw on the same part of the Sandmines property.

Based on his comments in the discussion with @AndyTFE on the @fried_egg_golf podcast, as long as the kangaroos were part of the package, I think Tom would second that take @LinksGems.

Pacific Dunes is, as best I can recall, the first Tom Doak design I ever played. The course turns 25 this year. Since the day it opened, I think it’s been the finest publicly accessible golf course in America. The original course put Bandon Dunes on the map. Pacific Dunes made it an essential pilgrimage for every golfer.
