Conservatives aren’t necessarily wrong abt James Talarico. His faith doesn’t challenge any element of the secular progressive social agenda. That’s wrong and seems like a political gimmick. The problem is they’ve lost credibility by failing to apply a biblical standard to Trump.

I am so incredibly indebted for Danny Akin. He came to Southern Seminary and joined me as Dean of the School of Theology and Senior Vice President for Academic Administration at a time when we desperately needed him. He brought the totality of who he is, conviction, passion, kindness, and, of course, he also brought Charlotte, which explains just about everything good about Danny.

I was talking with a younger pastor the other day and I said, "I actually think it would be good for our country if both political parties loved and feared the Lord." He was kind of taken off guard by the comment as if it was something he had never considered. I think this pastor is not uncommon among American evangelicals today which is evidence that the culture war has gone upstream of the gospel in the imaginary of many churches.

Christian, if you won't take a posture of servanthood when the church is gathered, then you won't take a posture of service when the church is scattered.

The secular world says, "I perform, therefore I am" but as Christians we can say, "I am created and loved by God, therefore I am"
