At #SocialWelfareWeek today, Govt, #UNICEF & partners emphasized the vital role of social welfare officers in our communities. With this week’s theme on mental health, (central to their work) their services remain essential in supporting #women, #children & the wider community.

As #SocialWelfareWeek continues, #UNICEF was honoured to welcome the Minister of Community Development, Gender, Women & Special Groups at our booth. She learned how UNICEF supports the Govt. in strengthening social welfare officers to better serve #children & communities.

In Songwe, I joined a dialogue with 135+ pupils (grades 5–7) on teen #pregnancy & #childmarriage, facilitated by community development officers. I’m inspired by how much they already know about their rights & protection from #violence! They’re true young ambassadors for change!🌟

This week in Songwe Region, with #UNICEF support, 54 Furaha Teens #parenting facilitators received refresher training on updated pre/post questionnaires & administering them via Kobo; helping to strengthen quality data collection for better results. #Parenting #ChildProtection

Social Welfare Officers (SWOs) play a vital role in our communities. In Dodoma, new SWOs were trained to prevent & respond to #violence against #children, part of efforts to strengthen 🇹🇿’s child protection system. W/support from @UNICEFTanzania, @TAMISEMI_Tz & @maendeleoyajami

The cases of #sexual violence & #abuse shared by the Social Welfare Officers were truly heartbreaking. It was really difficult to listen to, but it was a powerful reminder of the urgent need for action. We all have a role to play in ending #violence in our homes & communities.
