@diamondcoach @33lunasea @BBGreatMoments The runner committed no crime, because he ran from third base to home without deviation. That is his right and his obligation.
If the catcher wants to get in the way, the catcher can deal with it.
English

@JayCCalhoun @33lunasea @BBGreatMoments THAT is true. You've been reading rules and listening - very good.
That's not what we've been discussing, though. We've been discussing the scenario of this post.
English

@JayCCalhoun @33lunasea @BBGreatMoments That is not always true.
If a fielder is attempting to field a batted ball, that is never true.
Otherwise, yes.
English

@stefanbackstrom @mburm201 @neoavatara If you have to take your opinion seriously, you do actually have to show that somebody who wrote the thing, or somebody who voted for the thing, agreed with you. It's in the Constitution, and none of them agreed with you.
English

@JayCCalhoun @mburm201 @neoavatara Why would I want to prove something I’m not claiming? The framers thought owning a cannon was fine, and so they did not explicitly exclude it.
Now, apply that logic to the birthright clause.
English

@stefanbackstrom @mburm201 @neoavatara I'm sorry. Did I use a French phrase that you might not understand from this uneducated yokel?
English

@stefanbackstrom @mburm201 @neoavatara Except the 14th Amendment authors and voters all specifically excluded all birthright citizenship, to varying degrees. None of them held that anybody born here was a citizen, carte blanche
English

@JayCCalhoun @JBlunt1018 Oh, the functional illiterate is trying debate-club nonsense. Bad faith actor, not worth anyone’s time. 👋

Birthright citizenship isn’t complicated; the fringe is trying to make it sound complicated.
This isn’t hard.
1. If the concern is illegal entry, enforce the border. We already spend billions on CBP and ICE. That’s an execution issue, not a constitutional one.
2. If the concern is birth tourism fix it directly:
— Shorten B2 visa stays
— Tighten screening at entry
— Enforce visa intent rules
These are policy levers fully within government control.
You don’t rewrite the Constitution because enforcement is weak.
C’mon man!

@stefanbackstrom @mburm201 @neoavatara As you have said, if you want to write more law or have more restricted, go get yourself a constitutional amendment about it.
English

@stefanbackstrom @mburm201 @neoavatara Right, so there is no constitutional problem with owning a cannon, and the burden is on you to show that anybody who wrote the second Amendment or voted on it would have a problem with owning a cannon.
English

@stefanbackstrom @mburm201 @neoavatara People at the time did not have to bear the cannon on their person in order to have the right to own it and use it.
English

@JBlunt1018 Just because your position is historically retarded, and you refuse to provide evidence, doesn't make me the dumb one.
English

@getyrtrouserson @JBlunt1018 I'm asking for anyone before 1900 who held your position at all. Just one. Openly saying that birth here gives you citizenship, no matter what.
English

@stefanbackstrom @mburm201 @neoavatara A cannon is much more powerful than an AR-15, and anybody could have them.
English

@JayCCalhoun @mburm201 @neoavatara I mean, find anyone who drafted or voted on the second amendment who thought AR-15s could be a thing. The whole point of amendments is that circumstances change, which may require new amendments. But the courts don’t get to decide that.
English

@getyrtrouserson @JBlunt1018 That's nice. So give me an example of someone affirming that anchor babies could be a thing. If you have a kid here he's a citizen, no matter what. Show me somebody saying that.
English

@JayCCalhoun @JBlunt1018 At the time around 300,000 new immigrants arrived each year. (About 1% of the population.) There were no federal restrictions on entry. They were not citizens. They had children. Those children were citizens.
English

@getyrtrouserson @JBlunt1018 Dude, I was literally the president of my college chapter of the John Locke Foundation lol. Try again.
Give me the words of a person at the time who believed anchor babies could be a thing.
English

@stefanbackstrom @mburm201 @neoavatara Dude, literally just cite anybody at the time who believed anchor babies could be a thing. This should not be a hard request.
English

@JayCCalhoun @mburm201 @neoavatara Yes, we have both congressional records and public and private statements by congressmen. Which ones are you referring to specifically, here? Trumbull? Howard? Doolittle?
English

@getyrtrouserson @JBlunt1018 It does not include persons born in the United States who are foreigners.
English

@JayCCalhoun @JBlunt1018 What do you think the image you posted says?
English

@getyrtrouserson @JBlunt1018 So instead of being coy and vague, why don't you tell me what your point is?
Please cite anybody who had a hand in writing the amendment, or voting on the amendment, who openly affirmed birthright citizenship based on location?
Your view is the novelty.
English

@JayCCalhoun @JBlunt1018 This is a transcription of a speech, not a piece of written prose. Read it aloud in the manner of an 1860s senator from Michigan.
English

@getyrtrouserson @JBlunt1018 If you're not going to provide an argument in your own terms, as I have, why should I talk to you?
English

@JayCCalhoun @JBlunt1018 I’ve already educated you. Read Mr Howard’s speech aloud from the start and see if you get it.
English

@getyrtrouserson @JBlunt1018 You have not yet provided an argument of any kind whatsoever. I have asserted that I agree with everyone who wrote it and passed it. And I do agree with them. And none of them supported anchor babies. So the burden is on you.
English

@JayCCalhoun @JBlunt1018 Given that you’re functionally illiterate it’s no surprise that you’re also historically ignorant. South Carolina at its best.
English

@33lunasea @diamondcoach @BBGreatMoments I am autistic about the rules, yes. The runner can run from 3rd to home, and anybody who gets in his way makes it his own problem.
English

@diamondcoach @JayCCalhoun @BBGreatMoments The guy has to be on the spectrum. Definitely a couple sandwiches short of a picnic.
