Thursday's horse racing thread 🧵
Sedgefield 3.40 A King Of Magic 5/4 NAP
Ludlow 4.20 Don't Mind If I Do 5/2
Newcastle 6.30 Fast Track Harry 15/8
Newcastle 7.00 Inishbeg 6/4 NEXT BEST
Newcastle 8.00 Chris's Mate 14/1 each way
The race probably set up for A KING OF MAGIC at Taunton but he still impressed the way he got there late on. A similar scenario could easily play out here as both Buddah Castle and Desertmore News could lock horns early and potentially go too hard. Either way the selection has more to come and is worth keeping on side.
Down in grade DON'T MIND IF I DO is a major player here. He has only had six career starts and I can see him improving for this step up in trip now. He has some decent form to his name and if he settles he should prove hard to beat here as he still has a fair bit of potential.
With Golden Redemption now out this looks a great chance for FAST TRACK HARRY to win again. He was always doing enough to prevail at Lingfield last month and with more to come and fitness on side now he is the one to be on. We Never Stop can give him most to think about.
Great chance for INISHBEG to get off the mark. He needed the experience on debut at York but improved quickly to go down just over a length at Redcar. He looks a colt that could be quite a nice prospect this season so I'll be disappointed if he can't beat these despite lacking a recent run. Infinite Dream has a similar profile and should be the one to chase him home.
The way CHRIS'S MATE won over C&D was quite impressive for the grade especially give how keen he was. The step up to a mile clearly didn't work last time but back down in trip it wouldn't surprise me to see him bounce back and he is a massive price considering so worth chancing.
Monday's horse racing thread 🧵
Plumpton 2.15 Viscountess Nelson 13/8
Plumpton 2.45 Kool Kid 6/4 NEXT BEST
Plumpton 3.45 Dramatic Encore 15/8
Ffos Las 4.00 Big City Roller 9/2
Wolverhampton 7.00 Sup Of Red 6/1
Wolverhampton 8.30 Crimson Rambler 11/8 NAP
Nicky Henderson remains in great form so VISCOUNTESS NELSON could be the one to beat here. This mare shaped with promise amidst greenness on debut at Huntingdon. She was held up and was given a lot to do but ran well to finish fourth. The winner Milpat looks useful and the third Otie's Friend has won since so the form has substance. Anyhow she should improve plenty now over hurdles and up in trip and is the one to side with here.
This track suits KOOL KID as he was in the process of running a big race before hanging left away from the last back in December. That form has been franked since and despite only managing sixth at Fontwell back down in trip and grade here last month he won readily. He goes over fences now and that could easily see him take another step forward so off a mark of 108 could still be well handicapped. The yard are a bit quiet but this won't take much winning and I expect him to get the job done.
The drop back in trip looks a good move for DRAMATIC ENCORE here and she should have a great chance to get back in the winners enclosure. She is down 1lb since that Ludlow run and with just three rivals to beat it will be disappointing if she can't go close. There is no obvious pace on and Paul O'Brien can be really good off the front so given she stays further she might go forward and try and gallop them into the ground.
Fortunate Man has proved a little frustrating the last twice and I'd be happy to oppose at short enough odds. BIG CITY ROLLER needs to bounce back himself but he looked promising winning easily over fences at Lingfield and then I just think it was a case of the quicker ground catching him out back over hurdles at Newbury. Back on a slower surface with rain forecast he could have ideal conditions here and back over fences off this mark there should be a fair bit more to come so he looks decent value.
The best is yet to come with SUP OF RED and she looks a great each way bet here. She didn't run badly at a huge price on debut for this yard and then improved to go down just a head to another progressive rival in Aneirin's Sword over further here last month. Back down to 7f looks a good move and she is handicapping to get off the mark now.
I've been with CRIMSON RAMBLER the last twice and he looks well placed to complete the hat-trick now. He beat main danger Karakula Dancer on penultimate start and then followed up with something to spare over C&D last week. The penny has dropped now and he is going through his races much better so if this pans out favourably again he should get the job done with Liam Wright good value for his 5lb claim.
@NathanGran52296@JoeNorrisGYTO I’ll be backing it until it loses same as I did with Aisling Oscar, been on it last 5 times it’s made me enough to have another go on it
475 horses ran at the Cheltenham Festival and none clocked a Top Speed higher than Ballyburn. He hit 37.88mph coming down the hill in the Stayers' Hurdle and was faster than the winner, Home By The Lee, through each of the final 5f. The latter gained 5.61 lengths on him in the jumping department. @CheltenhamRaces | @RacingTV
@priestley93 We are used to it now, 4 shit refs in a row for us, would have taken a point before the game but more was there for the taking until the sending off. Johnson lucky to stay on the pitch
