@JayKogen I do agree. I'm grumpy over politics and continue to attract other grumpies like me until maga/trump is gone. also.. happiness is great but i'd rather attract smart over happy. smart is underrated. I want to to stick by people even when chips are down for them, for example.

Hey kids, welcome to Jay  Kogen's Philosophy Phriday. There are people who say we attract or fates. That being positive creates good outcomes and negatively attracts bad outcomes. What do you think?  Bullshit or is there something in it?

@MugginsMcS @HollyCFossi @Greyson2020 @grumpycat96 I've seen negative people achieve great things. But the happiest people I know have also achieved whatever they need to, to stay happy. So again it's more about the journey. I feel like happier.People have a better journey

@HollyCFossi @JayKogen @Greyson2020 @grumpycat96 Interesting question. I don't think its fate, but I do think overall being in a negative frame of mind, and certainly acting in a negative manner brings you bad things. Not *always* of course, life can be random, but looking at the world positively often brings that to you.

@grumpycat96 @MugginsMcS @HollyCFossi @Greyson2020 Pro athletes do better when they imagine themselves winning and continually assume they're going to win. Positive outlook it helps. Of course. The greatest basketball player in the world michael jordan used anger to fuel his play. So you never know.

@vincetographer True. But outlook helps you choose your friends and your path. So maybe there's a real cost to looking at the negative.

@JayKogen It can be as simple as choosing the right friends. But i also think the universal dice rolls for us and we have to be able recognize whatever has been given. We can then choose to accept it or move on. People attract so much good but then choose an abusive partner.

@Greyson2020 So, if it's mostly biased, do you think there's any advantage to a positive outlook. Or is it just random?

@JayKogen I think it’s probably mostly selective bias. Like when you’re thinking about something and everything you run across in life reminds you of that thing. But if you’re hanging your head down, you’re not going to be able to see the stars either.

@grumpycat96 There is something that attracts people to similar vibes. Maybe if you're grumpy, you will attract grumpy people. Happy people seem to avoid grumpy people. So maybe there's more opportunity if you seem happy

@JayKogen I think there is some truth to it but it's not a rule either. grumpiness, dissatisfaction, and even anger, which are considered negative can keep you in sharper focus, I would argue. but so long as you are still trying to more forward in life that is inherently positive.

@caruso72 Maybe it influences your ability to see good or bad because that's what you're looking for

@JayKogen I believe that either can be a force for driving intent, be it good or bad. The thing I found with negativity, having clung to it for a long time, was how much it wears you down. It came to a point where I could no longer carry, or justify it.

@HollyCFossi Couldn't you have a conversation with a magic 8 ball? I could. Even if it's the Bible it's just fodder for talk. I would approach it like that

@JayKogen …her situation. It’s hard for me to act like this is normal. The bible has become her own, personal Magic 8 ball. But arguing with her will get nowhere. And she does love me. At the same time, she’s driving me nuts with this god thing.

Hey kids, welcome to Jay  Kogen's Philosophy Phriday. Recently, I heard a song about a bad break-up & it really brought me to those feelings of loss & anger. I haven't had a break-up in decades. But somehow those feelings still live inside me & great art can bring them forward.

@HollyCFossi So that's a good place for a song. A person who is stuck in the past and is shaken to see the important people who are here now and need their love.

@JayKogen I like the one from “Up”. The metaphor of the house representing the life he used to have with his wife. And letting go of the past because there are more pressing matters in the now.

@HollyCFossi Toy Story, I think, is about getting over yourself, and embracing the group. Woody and Buzz are both jealous of each other. They want the affection of the boy who owns the toys. They have a rivalry but in the end learn that working together is better. And Buzz has to really
