@realbrentreed Edgar’s first stint as the Mariners hitting coach was subpar. Then he joined forces with Seitzer and they figured it out as a team. I know Souza personally, he’s super smart, and when Kelenic was hitting for the M’s, it’s because Souza noticed a hitch in his giddyup.

By far the stupidest argument around lol most of the best coaches throughout history were total scrubs

@DevineGospel When this is our hitting coach and he has stats like these for his career no wonder we can’t do anything

Separate but potentially related -- Triple-A Tacoma just scratched its starting catcher for tonight, Jhonny Pereda. Beyond Raleigh and Garver, Pereda the Mariners' only other catcher on their 40-man roster.

I went to England, where I sat shotgun as Justin Rose drove a very fast car from his house to the McLaren Technology Centre, a surreal place where they're taking on a brand-new challenge: making golf clubs for one of the best players in the world.
I entered with a few basic questions. Why McLaren? Why Rose? And why now?
Here's what I found: golf.com/news/justin-ro…

@shaneF1984 @JayTeeSea86 I haven’t cared for Calkins since the Times hired him.

Solid but bummed by its rhetoric. While yes, the team will succeed if Cal succeeds, Julio and Naylor play just as big of parts as Cal does. The team isn’t finding its footing just because of Cal. It’s because of all three of them starting to click. @shaneF1984 thoughts?

Most of the Mariners' early losses came as Cal Raleigh was about as productive as a replacement-level player. Things are turning around for the catcher and the team, writes @Matt_Calkins seattletimes.com/sports/its-no-…
