When Mitchell Mesenbrink got to the podium, he went through and shook the hand of the other All-Americans at 165 - all but Mikey Caliendo’s. When Mesenbrink stuck out his hand to the Hawkeye, Caliendo refused to acknowledge him. Mesenbrink shrugged and moved on.

Benton grad Gable Strickland has qualified for his third NCAA tournament. Strickland won his consolation semifinal at 133 pounds for Lock Haven at the MAC tournament, and the Top 4 are guaranteed a spot at nationals

@DavidGPuppet @MattGrossenbach I have a lot of D3 soccer coach friends. I think they love the game more because of it.

@MattGrossenbach Most D3 coaches I know, and I know several coaches in various sports, never wanted to be at the D3 level. They just ended up there. Now they never want to leave D3. They LOVE it! That's actually a normal thing.

It’s crazy how guys who land good D3 head coaching jobs and win there will just casually stay in that job for 40 years. Totally get it, and I would probably do that too, just funny. Part of what makes so many of the top D3 jobs highly coveted and super competitive as well.
