@its_The_Dr She was winning the race. If someone touches a competitor the athlete can get disqualified. Even if she planned to finish with her daughter she did the right thing.

@daveaiello @Kevin_McCashion There are obstruction/interference rules. My understanding is that you can not obstruct another athlete by forcing them off their ‘line.’ It’s up to the race organizers to decide whether or not that took place.

@Kevin_McCashion I don’t know the USATF rules, but I would be in favor of the fourth place finisher being relegated to last, and the fifth place finisher officially placing fourth. That’s one of the most unsportsmanlike moves I’ve ever seen in any amateur sports event.
