@JayVtid Need more accounts like this. Our current trajectory is a joke and so many fans take it for granted. Under Emery anything is possible and the miserable, negative fans need to get a grip!

I refuse to be pessimistic. I back us to win tomorrow - I don't care about our record. I'm behind the lads 100%. Win and we're 10 points clear. We need it.

Aston Villa Updates
Aston Villa Updates@avfcbreaking·
Aston Villa’s €450m leap is real — but the Champions League is the load-bearing wall 🧱 Aston Villa’s latest revenue figures tell a story of acceleration rather than steady climb. In 2025, the club reported revenues of €450.2m, a 45 per cent increase on the previous year and more than double what they generated just four seasons ago. On paper, it looks like the arrival of a new financial heavyweight. But dig beneath the headline number and a more fragile truth emerges: Villa’s growth is being held together by television money — and, increasingly, by the Champions League. Broadcasting income accounts for roughly €287m of Villa’s total revenue, close to two-thirds of the entire operation. That concentration is not unusual among clubs pushing toward the elite, but it does mean Villa are walking a narrow ridge. Their current financial model works because performance has been excellent. It works because league position has been strong. And it works because Europe — especially the Champions League — has moved from ambition to necessity. The Premier League’s broadcast distributions are already heavily merit-based, but the real inflection point comes with Europe. Champions League participation doesn’t just add prize money; it transforms the entire revenue ecosystem. UEFA distributions, additional matchdays, global exposure, sponsor uplifts and commercial renegotiations all stack on top of each other. One season in the Champions League can be worth €70–100m in direct and indirect revenue. For Villa, that is not a bonus — it is structural support. This is where the risk lies. Wages have risen alongside income, as they must for a club attempting to compete at the top end of the league. Villa’s wage-to-revenue ratio has improved to around 71 per cent, which looks healthy. But it is healthy only at today’s revenue level. Remove Champions League money, or even downgrade it to Europa League levels, and the margins tighten fast. Broadcasting income is volatile; wages are not. There are encouraging signs elsewhere. Commercial revenue has grown sharply, reaching around €83m, evidence that Villa’s brand is expanding and that the club is beginning to monetise its on-pitch progress. Matchday income, now roughly €80m, has also risen and provides a more stable base. These are the revenues that underpin sustainable growth — the kind that survives a poor season or two. The problem is scale. Commercial and matchday income are improving, but they are not yet large enough to cushion a serious broadcast downturn. Until Villa push commercial revenue comfortably beyond the €100m mark, Champions League qualification remains the difference between resilience and retrenchment. This is the paradox of modern elite football. Success is required not just to grow, but to stand still. Aston Villa’s financial leap is genuine and impressive, but it is also conditional. The Champions League is no longer a stretch target; it is the load-bearing wall of the club’s current economic model. Villa have built themselves into contention. The next challenge is making sure that one missed step in Europe does not send the whole structure shuddering. #AVFC

It seemed impossible, but Villa’s board are making the season even tougher for Emery by selling Malen & signing Abraham. With Watkins done, Unai found in Malen a tactical tool making him go wide. Tammy has been fit all season, but who knows how his physical condition really is.

@Ant_Mossarelli Nice to see a logical post, amongst all the negativity. I think the ‘2nd XI’ will be tweaked a bit, hopefully with a couple of more direct wingers to allow us to mix up how we play but all in all it looks competitive on paper, without having to change loads

Aston Villa can confirm the club has written to the PGMOL to raise concerns over the selection process of match officials following today’s game with Manchester United at Old Trafford. With such high stakes surrounding today’s fixture, the club believe a more experienced referee should have been appointed. Of the 10 referees to officiate across the Premier League today, Mr. Bramall was the 2nd least experienced. The decision to disallow Morgan Rogers' goal, which would have given the club a 1-0 lead with 17 minutes remaining in the match, was a major contributing factor to the club not qualifying for the Champions League. As per the standards that have been established over the course of the season, a decision to whistle early is clearly inconsistent with current refereeing guidelines. VAR exists to ensure that these types of situations receive the scrutiny they deserve. Unfortunately, the technology was not allowed to serve its purpose. Ultimately, we acknowledge that the outcome for us will not change, but we believe that it is important to address the selection methodology to ensure that high stakes matches are treated as such with regards to officiating and to ensure that the implemented VAR technology is allowed to be effective.
