Azerbaijan has destroyed a symbolic cultural landmark in occupied Stepanakert, according to a statement released by ARCTA Artsakh (Artsakh Tourism & Culture Development Agency). The organization reported that the “Theatrical Fountain,” located on the grounds of the Vahram Papazyan State Drama Theatre, has been demolished. The fountain was considered one of the recognizable symbols of the city. ARCTA Artsakh described the incident as part of a broader pattern, alleging that monumental artworks are being systematically destroyed across the occupied territories of the occupied Republic of Artsakh, particularly in Stepanakert. The statement characterized these actions as a deliberate policy aimed at erasing Armenian cultural heritage and historical presence in the region. The group also criticized what it called ongoing silence and inaction in response to such developments. It urged the authorities of the Republic of Armenia to respond at the highest level and to take concrete steps to protect cultural heritage. At the same time, ARCTA Artsakh called on the international community to intervene, emphasizing its responsibility in safeguarding global cultural heritage and preventing further destruction. The statement stressed that Armenian cultural heritage is not only central to national identity but also forms part of the broader heritage of humanity, and therefore requires both national prioritization and international protection.

@gov_hm @guybirenbaum @DominiqueReynie En tant qu'anonyme, vous n'êtes pas habilité à exprimer un avis.
