I will never forgive her label for this bullshit. Awful first single. You don’t send a girl out with a school shooter lead single after her previous single was a #1 crosser smash about having a side piece 🤣. “Can’t Nobody” with a remix featuring Nelly to continue the story was a perfect recipe. Especially because Rich Harrison was HUGE at that time. Then get into “Past 12”. There were so many choices here. I’m well aware that this album was rushed but the single releases will always be jarring to me. And I’m pissed to this day over “Stole”. Beautiful song, horrible single.

Some of yall be expecting Oscar/Emmy worthy movies/TV shows out of Tyler Perry when that’s not his lane or his intent. When you get rid of those expectations, you can enjoy the show or movie for what it is. Meanwhile as much criticism as he gets, they always end up #1 on Netflix

@JdotZay @duffthebrand We were all there.. & we were ready for an uptempo, defining commercial debut for Kelly. Stole was great, but it would've fit better as a later single to build momentum first. Somber, slow building social commentary tracks rarely spark strong interest as a first single.

Both are great. But I do think, based on the roles they explored… Taraji has more range that Viola. Taraji does comedy and drama and everything in between. Viola is a more powerhouse dramatic actress.
