@TheDiceDrop I need to get this one. My youngest son likes 7 Wonders Duel and I've heard nothing but good about the Lord of the Rings game.

Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-Earth" doesn’t just reskin "7 Wonders Duel"—it exposes the original’s biggest flaw: too many wins in "7 Wonders Duel" feel like tactical bookkeeping, not momentum. The area control and Fellowship pressure in LOTR create actual narrative tension instead of science-symbol gotchas. Antoine Bauza and Bruno Cathala didn’t just iterate; they made the cleaner duel. If you still prefer the original, I think you’re defending iconography, not drama.

@TheDiceDrop I'm not a fan of trading cards games. I like the idea but would rather play a finished game and have expansions.

Am I wrong or does Altered ending this fast say something ugly about where card games are right now? For anyone who missed it, Altered was Equinox’s collectible card game with a slick split-lane race system and a big digital layer, and its new Roots of Corruption set had just teased Feats, Plagues, Stigmas, corrupted heroes, the whole “now the game gets weird” phase. If a game can raise serious money for an expansion and still hit the wall, should more people just skip the long-shot TCG and buy into living card games or expandable games with fixed releases instead?
