Any #twitterstorians out there able to help me date this document? It was found in a collection of EIC correspondence in 1694 but the '3d/32 year of the King's reign' is throwing me off, because I presume that is referring to Aurangzeb #history

In true pirate style, I have managed to sneakily acquire a copy of @historywomble’s new book 3 days prior to its official release date. Particularly enjoying these charming skulls-and-crossbones, not least as Google tells me such markers are called a ‘dinkus’. @TheHistoryPress

Buzzing to have won this year's @HakluytSociety essay prize! I've long been fascinated by the Northwest Passage, so this was a great excuse to pair that up with a close analysis of shipboard relationships on long-distance voyages (and concepts of mutiny!).

Congratulations to the @HakluytSociety Essay Prize winner 2024 @moregreyham & with honourable mentions awarded to @helen_hawken & @SamuelCheney8 👏👏👏

Delighted to say that my latest article has just been published in the Mariner's Mirror @NauticalHistory. It's about pirates, fish, and seafarers - and how they all fit together as part of a wider Atlantic 'political ecology' in the early 17th century. doi.org/10.1080/002533…

📣#EncountersAtSea will convene in-person @CamHistory on the 31st March, featuring an exciting programme on all facets of maritime encounter. Organising my first conference has been both challenging and rewarding, and I am so happy to finally introduce it!! 🌍🌊

Today, the University of Cambridge is sharing research into its historical connections to slavery. Read the summary, a response from the Vice-Chancellor, and our plans for creating a Cambridge Legacies of Enslavement Fund.
