@JustineGSwaab @bencoates1 POC & white SA’ns alike have claim on the Afrikaans language. IMO the comment was about language, not race & was meant as a joke. Having lived in NL and currently learning the language, I have said exactly the same about Dutch. I find context so important.

Seems a few were very offended by this? I’m not sure I fully get why - If you’re Dutch then Afrikaans often looks a little amusing and old-fashioned (just as Dutch might to them). But very happy to apologise sincerely if I’ve misjudged! No interest in becoming a Mean Twitter Guy

I see you are abroad and probably do not realise that the SA #economy cannot deal with another lockdown. 42% of SMME'S closed shop during the previous lockdown.

In many countries, this wave has been more severe the first one. Right now, we are in the middle of it. It is important for people to take this seriously. It started with the Eastern Cape then Western Cape, now KZN and Gauteng following suit. @MorningLiveSABC
