The next 12-24 months will be crucial for Dani Gibson on the fitness & performance forefront. There's isn't a player like her in England in terms of 'x-factor', but eventually the numbers could matter because there is a certain Emma Jones who will start knocking the door.

Marama Downes is tailormade for the surfaces that you usually get in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Also, lovely to see Watkin in a New Zealand (A) jersey!👊

@SaoirsedT Agreed. Leics are a far better side and they'd have romped home with this lineup. But as you said, I am glad that some sort a match-up took place to decide the outcome rather than having nothing. Gave a fair chance.

Don't think many are aware of how this game played out & I feel for the Leics team. It's very unfortunate! In a match reduced to 16 overs, Leics needed to score just 73 runs to win. Rain intervened when they were 3/0 (0.3) & they lost in a bowl off to get knocked out.

I watched Gabriella's bowling from today's game & I can see why she has been fast tracked into the national side. A 17 year old who is potentially the fastest pacer in the squad. Her discipline will improve with experience. At 17, she is an exciting player to keep an eye on!👏

Jodi Grewcock breaking it into the national side is a reflection of Grace Scrivens' topsy turvy form over the past couple of seasons. Scrivens looked destined to take over as England's LHB opener, but her batting development has remained stagnant as Jodi's has gotten better.

There are 2 such pacers who have potentially realized this & have started bowling leg-cutters from the very first over of the match (although, this has been specific to the T20 format). I want to see this more often in T20s, and a little bit in ODs too. Megan Schutt Emma Black

This is the very reason why I want to see these inswing bowlers dish out at least one leg-cutter, even in the OD format. Just keep the batters guessing rather than becoming very predictable. And as an inswing bowler, you HAVE to get your line & length spot on to get a dismissal.

Michael Atherton was correct at describing what to expect from Jess Kerr. He talked about knowing that she'll swing it away from LHBs, so as soon as the ball is pitches on the off, you can simply leave it. It's not coming back and hence, you are safe from an LBW/Bowled.

@SaoirsedT True that. But this is the first time I have gotten excited after looking at a squad for an ICC Women's event. They have their holes, but I haven't seen a South African squad as good as this ever before.

@Jeetv27WC No-one is favourites when Australia are involved. But they should have pretty good odds for the final and could well win the whole thing

I personally didn't expect South Africa to make the semis in the last two editions of the T20 WC, but they ended up making it to the finals on both occasions. This time, their squad is the strongest I have ever seen for an ICC event. Start as red-hot favorites this time!
