Congratulations to @avilewis, for being elected the new leader of Canada’s NDP! The Canada we’re fighting for lifts people up, brings people together, and builds a future for everyone. That’s what NDP oppositions fight for every day, and it’s what NDP governments deliver. Let’s get more MPPs, MLAs, MHAs and MPs elected – and more NDP governments – coast to coast to coast.

The great province of Ontario deserves a government with a real vision and real results. That's what I'm fighting to build.

I was pleased to lead off question period on budget day with a question on hospital deficits and cuts to frontline hospital workers in Niagara and across Ontario. More tone deaf answers as the Minister refuses to even acknowledge there is a problem.

The fight to save OSAP hits close to home for me. I came to Ontario from Newfoundland as a student, looking for a better future. Carleton University gave me that chance, and it helped me build a life here, raise my family, and become who I am today. I'm also a mom of two young women. I see the pressure up close. The debt, the uncertainty, the feeling that the deck is stacked against you before you've even started. To every student, parent, and advocate I've met these past few weeks: your stories are the heart of this – and I won't back down. Next week I'm forcing another vote and a debate to make reverse these cuts and make education more affordable. Every PC MPP will have a choice: listen to students, or on the record defending Doug Ford's cuts in front of the people who sent them to Queen's Park.

#BREAKING: 73% of Ontarians say Doug Ford should not be allowed to change the law retroactively to bury his phone records. 64% say this is about avoiding accountability. 53% of his own PC voters say their MPPs should vote against it. Will Doug Ford listen to Ontarians and release his phone records? ReleaseDougsTexts.ca

I’m not asking for his TikTok login or his Wordle score. Like 6 in 10 Ontarians, I think it’s wrong that he’s changing the law to hide his phone records – and I want to know if the Premier of Ontario is trying to cover up more shady business.

Candy Crush? Government business? I’m not sure. But students packed the gallery today waiting for answers on OSAP, and Doug Ford couldn’t put his phone down long enough to give them one.

No tax on groceries. That’s right, we’re taking all provincial taxes off food from the grocery store. Breaking Budget Day news you can use... That quick stop on the way home picking up the rotisserie chicken,  salad and drinks for the family - right now, you’re paying PST on that. Once our budget passes … you won’t pay PST anymore. Real savings for real life. Right where it matters most. Making life more affordable for Manitobans. A lot done. A lot more to do. 🦬

8 years later and Doug Ford and his government can’t fulfil their campaign promise to end hallway health care. In fact, hallway health care has become the unfortunate norm.    At Sudbury’s Health Sciences North, 120 patients are being treated in hallways daily.     In Hamilton, I spoke with a 66-year-old steelworker receiving cancer treatment. He spent 9 hours in an emergency room, only to be told he would be sleeping in a hallway overnight.   This is the cost of eight years of wrong choices.

What is Doug Ford hiding in his phone records? The RCMP is investigating. The courts ordered him to release them. Now he's changing the law so he doesn't have to. If you want answers, sign on: ReleaseDougsTexts.ca

Eight years later: 1,000 patients a day are being treated in hospital hallways. 120 at Sudbury's Health Sciences North alone. Meanwhile, Doug Ford is spending another day in legislature defending his phone records. This is the cost of eight years of wrong choices.

I will put an end to the Liberal's “hallway medicine” and cut wait times for the people. We’re going to build 30,000 new long-term care beds across the province. When people need care, they will get care. Help is on the way. #onpoli #pcpo

Of course doesn’t empathize or understand the reality of students from low to middle income families.    He didn’t have to worry about how he would afford tuition.    But here’s the thing, not every young person in Ontario was born with a silver spoon or handed a cushy executive job at their dad’s company.

Doug Ford was ordered to release his phone records. He refused. Now, he's changing the law to make sure he never has to. What is he covering up? Watch the video for the full story 👇 Then head to ReleaseDougsTexts.ca and tell him to release his records.

Food prices are up. Gas is skyrocketing. People can't find a family doctor. Instead of doing anything about it, Doug Ford is busy changing the law to hide his phone records from the people of Ontario. Today I filed a Speaker's Warrant to force him to hand them over. Ontarians deserve to know what he's covering up.

WATCH - First question period here at Queen’s Park in 102 days. NDP leader Stiles kicks it off by asking the Premier about his controversial changes to freedom of information request laws “To hide from accountability” she says. Ford claims 95% will still be subject to FOI.

Butter is $10. Gas is $1.80. 1,000 people a day are being treated in hospital hallways. But Doug Ford spent the first day back at the Legislature protecting his own phone records. That’s his priority. That’s the choice he’s making. And every time he chooses himself, he’s choosing not to help you.

I called for a vote to reverse Doug Ford's cuts to OSAP today. The government shut it down. Students are stuck with sky-high rents, fewer opportunities, and more debt. They simply cannot get ahead. I'm introducing another vote next week. More to come.
