@JeffLeve Thanks Jeff. Ended up purchasing a number of your top-ranked ‘23s. Looking forward to opening those in a decade or so. Montrose, Palmer, Mouton, Margaux, Suduiraut, Pape Clement, Cheval Blanc, La Mission HB, Pavie, Ducru and Leoville Las Cases are some of what I got.

@JeffLeve opening a 1995 HB this weekend. How long before dinner should I decant? Your last note says, in 2024, that it took 3 hours to open and soften up.
English

@DarekGalasinski @Winemag I’m not clear on what you’re saying/asking. Are you asking if every critic thinks their score is for everyone? Or, are you asking if they all use scores to state 1 wine is better than another in their view? Or are you asking a different question?
English

Linguist @DarekGalasinski argues that wine rating systems are riddled with circular arguments and empty criteria: winemag.co.za/wine/opinion/d…
English

@mattwallswine In the USA, every item is listed without taxes, not just wine. I think consumers know it will be added after
English

@JeffLeve Still feels quite arcane and unhelpful though. And so much wine gets delivered for immediate drinking - collecting wine increasingly rare. Maybe quoting both prices (with/without taxes) is the best way
English

@jamiegoode @DarekGalasinski A restaurant has the right to offer corkage or not, and a guest has the option to dine there or not. In my home town, I only dine at restaurants offering corkage, I have better wine than they do.
English

On corkage: should restaurants let you bring your own wine, and if so, how should they manage this? wineanorak.com/2024/06/01/on-…

English

@DarekGalasinski It’s a 15 year old, second wine . With that in mind, was it more or less than you expected?
