**Cyber Bullying is Very Real and it Very Sucks!** For the past several months my family, along with the family of my older daughter’s boyfriend, have suffered extreme distress at the hands of online cyber bullies. The bullies’ names are Samuel Cobb (a successful rapper with 10 million+ downloads who goes by the stage name Pyrex Pryce), Jake Hair, and Cobb’s greatly inferior rap protégés Maurice Tariq McQuire and Jake Rogers. All from the Dutch Fork / Irmo areas of South Carolina.   As best we can tell, the bullying – vicious defamatory lies and even death threats in various online channels, including performances and publishing of a rap song containing many of the lies and threats to Spotify, Apple, YouTube and more – stemmed from Cobb being upset that my daughter, then a high school sophomore, had begun dating someone seriously for the first time and that someone was not Cobb. Although we have no idea why they began their attacks, Cobb has outlandishly attempted to justify the escalations in their behavior by taking comments from third parties on social media and falsely attributing those remarks to my daughter’s boyfriend (clearly none of which were posted by him - nor did he encourage others to post on his behalf - as will be proven in court). If they believed that we would placidly suffer their abuse, they severely miscalculated. Today we filed seven causes of action (including civil conspiracy) in an extensive lawsuit to halt their malicious activity and seek justice for my daughter, her boyfriend, and our families. We are also cooperating with law enforcement in its pursuit of those same ends. I choose to post this publicly on our collective behalf because: 1) Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. I don’t know how “good” we are, but we will not stand idly by while those we love are harassed, intimidated and abused. 2) We want other parents who may have had their child suffer at the hands of cyber bullies and felt helpless to know that we plan to make these young men an example that causes others to think twice before they go down the same bullying road. 3) If we can prevent just one innocent teen from experiencing the mental anguish caused by cyber bullying then it will be worth the time and resources expended to do this. We read far too often in the news about depression and suicide connected to cyber bullying. The truth is “bullying” doesn’t properly convey what these patterns of behavior really entail.  What is happening today is so much beyond what kids of our generation endured. Sure, we had dust ups and people might have said some things that were heard by a few and soon forgotten, but social media has created a platform where cruel people can globally, immediately, permanently, and without respite harass and ruin the reputation of others, causing untold and often fatal suffering, all without any regard for the truth. Just recently far too many families whose teenagers committed suicide to end their personal onslaught of cyber bullying attended congressional hearings. This issue is very real on a large scale, and those of us in my generation never had to deal with things like this.   There was no way we would sit idly by and watch this happen against our kids. The time for apology has passed. This isn’t about money. It’s about sending a message. We want these men to understand that we will not rest until we completely disable them from harassing and abusing our kids. We are linking the lawsuit below. We won’t hang our heads in shame about anything it includes. We won’t let these bullies have their way. We are going to shine a light on every aspect of their sordid conduct. The only ones that should be ashamed here are the defendants who concocted such vile and disgusting lies and made such heinous and depraved threats.
