Endometriosis behaves like cancer in that there’s nothing actual way to know how much you have and where it is unless the doctor can SEE it while they’re in there for surgery.
A big difference between endometriosis and cancer, however, is that if a dr goes in and sees a ton of cancer, they won’t try to remove it all (they can’t), they’ll order chemo/radiation before they try surgery again. There’s no chemo for endometriosis. They remove what they can see. Nothing we know of shrinks endometriosis. Surgery is our only option and it will come back and we will need surgery again.
