Ori David (Mr. Company Law)
Law School is not just about intelligence. It’s about strategy. Many students walk into the Nigerian Law School thinking hard work alone is enough… until reality hits. The workload is intense, the timelines are tight, and the expectations are high. But here’s the truth: Those who succeed don’t just study harder—they study smarter. From mastering past questions to building a consistent reading system and surrounding yourself with the right circle, success at Law School is a game of discipline, structure, and intentional effort. At ODC, we don’t just prepare you to pass. We prepare you to excel. Save this post. You’ll need it. 👌🏾 Follow us for more law school success strategies. : : *#OriDavidConsult* *#NigerianLawSchool* *#NLSSurvivalGuide

If you want to stay a poor lawyer, keep delivering before getting paid. I made that mistake myself, just days after being called to the Bar. Not anymore these days, my invoice comes first.

If someone recommends you for something, they put their integrity and sometimes their relationship with that person or organisation on the line. It is important that you deliver.

CONFUSED ABOUT COURTS IN NIGERIA? Let me save you from embarrassment before you go and price lawyer wrongly Let me break it down so you don’t enter the wrong court and start sweating. 1. CUSTOMARY COURT This one is for tradition and culture. Marriage, family issues, land disputes based on custom. If your case involves “our village people said” start here. 2. MAGISTRATE COURT Small small cases. Minor crimes, small debts, simple disputes. Nothing too serious. No big grammar. 3. HIGH COURT Now we are getting serious. Big civil cases, serious criminal matters. This court has power. Respect it. 4. FEDERAL HIGH COURT If your problem is with the Federal Government or big agencies, come here. Money laundering, EFCC, NDLEA, immigration, banking matters. This one no be child’s play. 5. NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL COURT Work wahala court. Employer vs employee. Salary, dismissal, workplace issues. If your boss is stressing you, this is your bus stop. 6. COURT OF APPEAL You are not happy with judgment? You carry your matter come here. They review what the lower courts have done. 7. SUPREME COURT Final bus stop. No argument again. Once they talk, everybody go home. FINAL LINE Know where your case belongs. So you don’t carry goat matter go lion court. Ignorance of the law is not excuse. © Stella Justice Nnennaya

A "win" in court after 7 years of litigation is often a financial loss. The best litigators aren't the ones who scream the loudest in court they’re the ones who negotiate a settlement that keeps their client in business and out of the headlines.
