The question is not whether the NRM has a history. It does. The question is whether the Movement can reform, renew itself, and protect its founding purpose for Uganda’s next stage of growth. No institution survives by memory alone. Anything that grows must be defended by those who understand its value. It must be corrected when it is drifting. It must be protected from those who weaken it from within while claiming to serve it. Uganda’s ambition to build a $500 billion economy, industrialize rapidly, and convert agriculture and mineral potential into finished high-value goods will require more than infrastructure and electricity. It will require rule of law, restraint, honest communication, disciplined leadership, and institutions that can still listen. The NRM must not fear reform. Reform is not betrayal. Reform is how institutions remain alive. We must keep the country communicating freely. We must allow people to speak without fear. We must stop impunity. We must raise leaders who can think, read, listen, act, and protect the greater good. Fear disables people. Reform keeps institutions alive.

Former IGP Kayihura behind Joan Kagezi murder, suspect tells High court During his testimony, Nasur Abdallah Mugonole told the court that he was aware of the plot to kill Kagezi because he was recruited to gather intelligence on individuals involved in planning the assassination and reporting to a person he identified only as “Green. Mugonole alleged that Kayihura had offered Kagezi Shs 1 billion in exchange for the documents implicating him in violent activities and illegal firearms dealings, but she declined the offer, saying she intended to hand them over to President Yoweri Museveni. Mugonole further alleged that Kagezi’s mobile phone was stolen before her murder by a man he identified as Calvin Jordan, who allegedly gained the family’s trust by pretending to be interested in dating Kagezi’s daughter. The phone was allegedly returned 3 days later after a tracking device was installed to monitor Kagezi’s movements. observer.ug/news/former-ig…

They are not charging @EriasLukwago_ with treason. They are charging him with silence — silence about his own friends and clients. Hon. Erias Lukwago stands accused of misprision of treason: the State says he knew of a plot and failed to report it. That is the whole case. Nothing more. Not a single act is alleged against him. No meeting. No money. No weapon. No message. No plan. Only one line, repeated like a chant to fill the legal emptiness: "he was aware but did not report." How does the State say he "knew"? By virtue of his leadership position. That is guilt by title, by office, by trade, by occupation. That Erias Lukwago is criminally liable for what he is, not for what he has done. Swallow that nonsensica logic and no opposition leader, no lawyer, no critic in Uganda is ever safe again. Who anchors this entire fiction? A self-confessed liar. On the prosecution's own account, the central figure — Andrew Wilson Orlando (@artfulgypzy), a British-American — was a paid State informant for years, planted inside the very group now used to incriminate Lukwago, and instructed by the State to manufacture the very "evidence" it now waves in court. The State did not uncover a plot. It commissioned and cooked one, then billed the accused for it. Even if every word of self-confessed liar, Orlando's paid fabrications were true, the charge/indictment boils down to this: a citizen declined to inform on his political colleagues and clients to a hostile security apparatus. That is not treason. That is not crime. That is conscience. This is not a prosecution. It is persecution. Ugandans must name it, condemn it, and watch it closely. #FreeLukwago #RuleOfLaw

I see Ugandan Big Man Museveni has hired a second US lobby firm to help his image in Washington. A better approach would be increasing freedoms and human rights, real elections, and keeping his loony son, Gen Muhoozy under control. That would help more! africaintelligence.com/eastern-africa…

Update @Lukowoyesigyire "Preliminary investigations indicate that stolen phones are allegedly altered, including tampering with their serial numbers, before being sold across borders, making their recovery by the rightful owners extremely difficult. Police also recovered over 460 used MTN and Airtel SIM cards from one of the shops, along with machines suspected to have been used to alter mobile phone serial numbers . During the operation, three of the recovered phones received calls from individuals who identified themselves as the rightful owners. The callers reported that the phones had been stolen from them in the Makindye area, in Kampala district providing an immediate lead in the investigations. see more.. 👇 upf.go.ug/police-recover…

Your car uses more fuel than before.... Yes, I'm sure you have noticed this, that for the same fuel volume, you are now getting less mileage. I'll tell you why....... A thread The Government of Uganda officially issued the directive and launched the National Biofuels Blending Program on July 1, 2025, the directive made it strictly mandatory for all fuel distributors in the country to blend petrol with locally sourced ethanol starting January 2026 Ethanol blending. Ethanol blending is the process of mixing pure ethyl alcohol (ethanol) into conventional Premium Motor Spirit (PMS / petrol) in precise percentages before distributing it to gas stations. (1/2)

For all those who have specialized in breaking our Constitution with impunity, I urge you to deeply reflect on your unconstitutional and wrongful actions and stop taking our country in a direction that not only jeopardizes we the living citizens but also the unborn. Let each Ugandan individually and collectively recommit to rebuilding a Uganda where each one of us irrespective of their sex, race, colour, ethnic origin, tribe, birth, creed or religion, social or economic standing, political opinion, or disability, can: Live in peace and enjoy the rights guaranteed under the Constitution. Enjoy equal rights and equal access to justice. Receive equal service from all our public institutions, irrespective of their economic or social status or any other circumstance. Freely speak up regarding the governance of their dear country at all levels and the right for their concerns to be addressed in a timely and respectful manner in accordance with the Constitution of Uganda. Freely associate with fellow Ugandans regarding matters affecting us individually and collectively. Live in a country where the corrupt are brought to justice and where any property or illegally gotten wealth is confiscated and the proceeds are placed in an identifiable national fund and utilized to fund designated, agreed-upon national priorities. Enjoy a clean, safe, and healthy environment to support us and future generations and which will enable Uganda to continue to be the food basket that supports us and our neighbors. Access quality education. Earn a dignified living and be gainfully employed—whether through employment, entrepreneurship, farming, professional practice, skilled trades, craftsmanship, creativity, innovation, or any other lawful economic activity. Live peacefully with their families in their homes. Have their lawfully acquired property protected by law and safeguarded from land grabbers. Let the dead rest peacefully in their graves. I call upon all my fellow Ugandans of goodwill to join me to advocate for this Uganda which we all deserve. FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY Retired Justice Dr. Esther Kitimbo Kisaakye 2/2

High court rules: After 180 days on remand without trial, bail becomes mandatory In two separate rulings, justice Paul Gadenya Wolimbwa held that courts are constitutionally obliged to grant bail to accused persons who have spent more than 180 days on remand without their cases being committed to the High court for trial. He said the gravity of the offences and the apprehended risk of flight cannot defeat the entitlement to be released. "It was parliament, not the courts, that found the earlier threshold too generous to the state and too indulgent of delay, and shortened it to 180 days. A provision deliberately tightened in this way is not one a court should approach as though it retained an unspoken discretion to relax it again by another route. Parliament has already weighed the gravity of capital and High-court-only offences...” he ruled. Furthermore, he said asking the bail applicant to prove a fixed place of abode by producing a certificate of title or utility bills asks more of him than the law requires as neither the Constitution nor the Bail Guidelines requires an applicant to own the home in which he lives. observer.ug/news/high-cour…
