Not to brag but up here in the Bay Area, San Mateo charged $20k per apartment in parks fees; Palo Alto charges avg $40k; RWC $43k; Sunnyvale $70k PER APARTMENT LA can only dream of loving parks like we do

LA charges park fees between 8 and 18 grand for each new unit of housing built. I guess now we know where it’s going. If you live in LA go enjoy those restrooms, because they’re built into your rent.

@UrbanCourtyard I like the courtyard urbanist project but this bias against big towers is bizarre to me. Many global cities—Mexico City, Istanbul, Tokyo, to name a few—have big towers in extremely vibrant neighborhoods. Why not promote cities with both?

Superblock towers include lots of amenities are extremely expensive to build, operate, maintain and buy units in. Nothing says livable neighborhood like a valet-only lobby and 200’ of glass wall

if you’re in a good neighborhood (left), your building has no amenities and your block has tons of ground floor retail. If your building has a lot of amenity space (right), chances are your neighborhood sucks at the street level.

You know what would solve a lot of this? A prop that puts all tax authority back in the hands of the CA legislature where it’s supposed to be. Give it the same full court press that he gave Prop 5.
