@Spidey_pte The symbiote took Peter’s body for webswinging while he slept, Peter wondered why he was exhausted, and he got checked out by the FF. He got rid of the suit because it was an alien he was worried was feeding on him, not because it made him evil or something.

@Spidey_pte The original symbiote storyline literally just had Peter being overtired, that’s it. That’s the extent of what the symbiote did to him: it made him exhausted.

Making the symbiote evil shifts the narrative from “Peter made a complicated, human mistake” to “Peter was mind-controlled by an evil alien so that obviously wasn't him”
And that lets him off the hook in a way Spider-Man stories usually don’t
