@NewILState Even what I saw with the state med school up there, it was Twilight Zone frankly-there is a gap there! Seriously, IL deserves better than what I saw in that area.

If Chicago is the economic engine of Illinois, God help us all. jonathanturley.org/2025/09/05/a-b…

@NewILState Happen to see the WMAQ clip, I hear you folks loud and clear! I was a kid in Danville in the 70s and then went up to the Chicago subs in 1980. The differences are so obvious, it is quite unique. The Danville area back then was more Xian, conservative etc.

@VisualCap Don't know how accurate this is with Syria and its $33! Need to take PPP into consideration. USA health is cracked and broken for sure, notice UK with a similar PPP to the USA-spend ~129% (13.5K vs 5.9K) more while they rank 3rd per Commonwealth Study: commonwealthfund.org/publications/f…

Can you name the sole individual to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics on two separate occasions?
It was John Bardeen who received the physics prize in 1956 for the transistor effect and again in 1972 for developing the theory of superconductivity.

@GunnelsWarren Not progressive but rather regressive taxation. We had progressive taxation for much of the 20th century. America was also creditor nation back then all the way up till Reagan.
English

No. When Jeff Bezos pays a lower tax rate than a truck driver, the tax code is not progressive. It's rigged.
Jeff Bezos
Worth: $279 billion
Tax Rate: 0.98%
Truck Driver
Income: $63,890
Tax Rate 8.4%
Teacher
Income: $69,860
Tax Rate: 9.8%
Nurse
Income: $98,430
Tax Rate: 13.3%

Yes, the United States has the most progressive tax system in the world. The top 1% pay 40% of taxes, the bottom 50% pay 3% of taxes. We can make it even more progressive by zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. It’s a small amount of the total tax revenue but very meaningful to people in this group.

@SpoxCHN_MaoNing There has been a great loss of biodiversity; it is good to see China bringing some of it back.

@GovPritzker The worst of the worst is the state med school. Gov, bring the correlators out here so we can all see how deficient they are! Trump giving those hoodlums a slush fund is a shame, I doubt any of them would get past a polygraph. docs.google.com/document/d/1Ri…

@Heccles94 Reagan loved to say "we are taxing the job creators." There has been a Great Divergence going on since his historic tax cuts.

@VisualCap Notice how red this is! Also notice how the top ten is all medical. Similar to this 20 years ago but the CEOs were in the top 10 back then. It would be some consolation if this were good healthcare. Contrast this from the 1930s which was more varied:
