@NotABadSlime16 @Gumohameha A branch is created when you arrive. Leaving doesn’t make a branch because that’s how that timeline was supposed to go to begin with. You disappearing forever from the prior timeline is set in stone. So if dbz did it right, it would have had five timelines (1/2)

@NotABadSlime16 @Gumohameha It’s not. He is literally time travelling to return to it. Thus, he is altering the timeline. The mere act of time travelling itself is an alteration. It doesn’t matter if yo user returning to a time you came from, yo user still time traveling.

@JessTho74499102 @Gumohameha I think i need a visual aid because that doesn't make sense to me. The second timeline is created when Trunks travels back because he alters events. Why would him leaving/returning to his time create another timeline if changing the past doesn't affect his own timeline?

@NotABadSlime16 @Gumohameha In the same way he wasn’t there the first time in the past, he wasn’t there to appear in the time he came from the first time. Time travelling duplicates when following multiverse theory, it doesn’t create checkpoints in time. You make a split by time travelling. Period.

When you return, there are now two versions, just like when you went to the past and made two versions of the past; a version where you came back/showed up, and a version where you didn’t.

@NotABadSlime16 @Gumohameha When using multiverse theory, you are forcing a branch in the timeline with every jump. When you time travel, you leave a timeline behind. You duplicate timelines when jumping, so you can only ever “return” to duplicates, never the original. Db time travel cheats, basically.

@NotABadSlime16 @Gumohameha Memory says every instance of time travel is a new timeline, including returning to one you left (there should be a timeline where trunks is never seen again in the future he came from), but it’s db so they either don’t acknowledge it or confirm that’s not the case, don’t recall.
