#womenshistorymonth Today we honor Ontario Feeder Driver Denise Duffy (42yrs UPS service). “I would like to add that not only my Mom but my whole family is a tribute to my success, my parents and my 3 older siblings all have 28 or more years with the same company, the 2 younger siblings have been in the same business for over 20yrs. My older brother holds the record with 43 years! A record I am going after. I live by the philosophy "this too shall pass!" My mother taught me this as she lived with Ovarian Cancer the last year and a half of her life. This puts your life in perspective as you may have bad days but I can guarantee you somebody is having a worse day. #womenshistorymonth Today we honor Ontario FeederDriver, Sabrina Durham (March 17 marks her 20 year anniversary with UPS). Sabrina just received the “Challenge Coin”from CEO Carol Tomé reserved for UPSers who go above and beyond. Sabrina was born in Mexicali, Baja California and she is the first woman truck driver in her family. She said, “the women I look up to, is my Ama (Mother Carmen), she came to this country with two kids to give me a better life. My Buela (Grandmother Mercedes), she was a business woman go-getter, and she rode motorcycles. #WomensHistoryMonth2023 Today we honor Empire Shifter Lacie Ward (28yrs UPS Service) “My career at UPS has been very rewarding, allowing me to live a great life and become a role model for my children. The people who have impacted my life are my parents and grandmother. My grandmother Dorothy, was a strong woman who worked in the 1920's, an era when most women did not work outside the home. My mother Lilian, loved taking us on adventurers (off-roading & camping), this gave me self-confidence and helped me to step outside my boundaries. Lastly my Dad Arturo, he helped me to challenge myself and discover what I was capable of doing. And my hero is my daughter Mina, despite her small stature, she always strived to overcome any obstacle and she became a Marine (USMC) OORAH! "Family is everything, what greater way to share life experiences than with your daughter by your side. Carmen is my first born. She is a wonderful daughter, sister, mother and a good wife. I am very proud of her. I cry just thinking about it" (Nickie). #womenshistorymonth Today we honor Ontario Sleeper Driver Carrie Lott (25yrs UPS Service). “As a female who works in a male-dominated industry, ‘Women’s History Month’ is important to me because it allows others to recognize those in the field who have broken the mold. My biggest accomplishment in life is being a mother. I’m proud to have raised kids who are kind and loving human beings. It is not easy raising kids when you’re out on the road for half a week, but I’m inspired by other women who have showed me that it’s possible to be both a mom and a career woman. My biggest female role models are those who fight for women’s rights and equality. I don’t think you have to be rich or famous to have a real impact on the way women are treated. I would also like to thank my male coworkers for never treating me as less-then. They’ve always been very supportive and helpful. For any new sleeper team drivers, my biggest safety advice is: check the weather along your route before you leave. And for any women who are considering doing what I do, I say, Go for it!
