@chmic2 @TheCoachesSite Coach forwards to get out of the zone as fast as possible. Defensemen usually have to go D to D because forwards are lazy getting out of the zone. If teams clear zone fast and hit spots, getting the puck up right away is a dangerous and effective transition play.

Disagree! The D-to-D pass usually helps to get your forwards time to get in position and start their rotation, so that the puck gets to them, while in motion. It’s the most effective pass, usually!
