@aisha_dickerson I think it depends a lot on the country's culture as well. Here in Australia by default we refer to someone by their first name in emails. That's what is expected (unless someone does not prefer that)

Because it apparently needs to be said: The first time you email someone, DO NOT address them by their first name. If they respond with an ending salutation using their first name only, that’s opening the door to refer to them as such.

Incredible panel yesterday at #EMBC2023 on "Data sharing challenges and opportunities in neonatal healthcare". I feel honoured to be representing @ehealthresearch in this valuable discussion. It was great to hear from others doing fantastic work in this space #neonatalhealthcare

I was also grateful to meet some of the members of the executive team, and got to pitch my research, so I got to put my workshop skills to practice! Bonus was getting to hear from our CEO @DrLarryMarshall and trying his farewell cake featuring his signature selfie+emoji style 😀

Had a great time at @CSIRO On Opportunity workshop yesterday at Lindfield, where we learned how to pitch our research. We were reminded to take the human centred approach and know our audience, something I deeply valued and appreciated (1/2)

Attended @ourANU graduation day with @anucecc, feeling so proud to hold this degree after a lot of hard work. Grateful that I got to share this moment with all my supervisors and family members. The last one is a family photo, all 5 of us are now PhD holders! #AcademicTwitter

A bittersweet status update: After 14 great years at @Sydney_Uni, I’ll be taking on the Head of @UTSTDSchool role in Feb. I’ll miss working with all the amazing people and students at @Sydney_Uni but luckily I’m not going far. Hoping to stay in touch and continue collaborating./1

What is research impact and how do we capture it - #OzCHI22 closing keynote by @aquigley - his advice to ECRs: keep evidence of your impact (emails etc). Also a paper (even at CHI) is zero impact unless it’s cited.
