This week, I joined @MSten37 and @GroverNorquist to talk tax policy. I explained that this year, RI Lawmakers will consider 2 proposals to reform our tax system:
1) More taxes
2) Cut taxes
I am firmly for cutting taxes. My proposal is a modest cut to the income tax rate by 2% each year for 5 years.
We shouldn’t be raising taxes—we should be lowering them to help families and make Rhode Island more competitive. My tax cut would help every working Rhode Islander.

Washington State just introduced its first income tax, and the same day, Starbucks CEO and founder announces that they're moving to Nashville, TN.
As if it wasn't common sense, raising taxes drives out entrepreneurs, innovators, and the economic engines that make a society prosperous. My proposal is to gradually lower our income tax with a modest 2% reduction each year over the next 5 years. It signals that job creators aren't the enemy and RI is open for business.
