هل هي حملة ممنهجة؟ جاهر محمد حجاب بمهاجمة دعوة الشِّيخ محمد بن عبدالوهاب وناصرته حساباته غربية، مثل هذا الحساب الذي يصرُّ على مهاجمة دعوة الشِّيخ بحُجَّة أنَّ "الأكاديميين الغربيين يعتبرون هذا أمرًا واضحًا"، ويعود الأمر إلى تقرير لمؤسسة راند الأمريكية 2007 بعنوان ((بناء شبكات مسلمة معتدلة))، وجاء في التقرير التحذير من [نشر النسخة السعودية من الإسلام في الساحة الدولية] وحذَّر من نفوذ الوهابيين ووجود مؤسسات لهم [ص3]، وفي المقابل دعا إلى إنشاء ودعم مؤسسات وُصفت بالمعتدلة، لذلك يسعى حجاب وأمثاله لمهاجمة الوهابية تبعًا للنقاط التي دعا إليها التقرير، فهو أسرع طريق للاستثمار في مؤسسات ممولة في بريطانيا أو عموم أوروبا، وتصوير أنَّهم قوة ناعمة دعت لتشكيلها راند قبل سنوات، وحينها يمكنهم استقطاب الأموال التي ضخت في أمثال عدنان إبراهيم وعلي الجعفري، فهم يعلمون ما يريدون تمامًا، لكن هل يعرف كثيرون هذا؟ هل كان العجيري يعلم هذا حين انضم إلى معهد (سابينس) وإلى اليوم يضعون صورته مع حجاب للتسويق للمشروع؟ وكان قد سجَّل لقاءات بالإنجليزية والعربية معهم، ونظموا له لقاءات أسبوعية مع روابط تبرعاتهم، بل دعا بنفسه إلى التبرع لهم! وهاتان صورتان من الموقع، وصفحة من تقرير راند 2007.
