Jesuits in Britain

@JesuitsBritain

Rooted in the rich tradition of our spirituality, Jesuits are contemplatives in action, living lives of service around the world.

Today is the feast of Mary, Mother of the Church. Through Mary, femininity is in some sense divinised and motherhood raised to the same level as the fatherhood of God. thinkingfaith.org/articles/enfol…

From today until next Sunday, Laudato Si’ Week is taking place, dedicated to the care of creation and inspired by Pope Francis’ Encyclical. In this jubilee year of Saint Francis of Assisi, we recall his message of peace with God, with our brothers and sisters, and with all creatures. Sadly, in recent years, due to wars, progress in this direction has been greatly impeded. Therefore, I encourage the members of the Laudato Si’ Movement and all who promote an integral ecology to renew their commitment. Indeed, caring for peace is caring for life!

How can our understanding of Matthew’s account of Jesus’ last words to his disciples in today's gospel – words through which Jesus continues to speak to the Church today – lead us to a renewed appreciation of the rest of the gospel? thinkingfaith.org/articles/20090…

Today, on the liturgical feast of #OurLadyOfFatima, we turn our gaze to the Shrine, where the Virgin Mary entrusted the three shepherd children with a message of #Peace. Let us entrust to the Immaculate Heart of Mary our cry for peace and harmony, which rises from every part of the world, especially from people afflicted by war. #PrayTogether

On today's feast of Julian of Norwich, why not try to embrace her emphasis on joy? "For Julian, joy is a sign of the greatest flourishing of a human life, of a Christian life, and her God is a God of joy, who takes pleasure in the whole of creation." thinkingfaith.org/articles/best-…

There's a tension between academic theology’s silence on Marian apparitions such as #Fatima and the way in which the actions of Pope Francis & his 2 immediate predecessors were shaped by a close attention to private revelation: ow.ly/gq3850zE08m #OurLadyofFatima #feast
