In the 1100s (Peter the Deacon’s lifetime), Christians already prayed the angelic greeting from Luke 1:28 & 1:42 in devotion. The “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners…” petition was added and standardized much later (15th–16th century) and was added by the Latin Church

Islam is not compatible with Christianity. In northern Cameroon, particularly near the borders with Nigeria and Chad, Christian communities face severe persecution from Islamist extremist groups such as Boko Haram and ISIS-West Africa. These groups carry out targeted violence, including church attacks, kidnappings, killings, and forced displacement. In some cases, Christians have endured forced conversions and restrictions on their religious practice. Persecution watch organizations, such as Open Doors, rank Cameroon on their World Watch List due to this ongoing extremism, especially affecting Christians in the northern and border regions.
