Any one else feel that gnarly earthquake here in Long Beach ???? 🥴🥴🥴

In many ways, @LACMA has been a leader in collecting and showing computer-based artwork, so it is very special to me to have their support as an institution. Here’s a bit about the two works they collected: Connected, for the Moment #1, is a digital work collected as an nft. This iteration is one of five produced from an algorithm I created that focuses on the particular ways in which hand-drawn lines tend to deviate from a “perfect line”. I’m very interested in systems, so a systematic look at the mechanics of the hand and arm was intriguing to me. Discrete Affection #3, is part of a series of four charcoal drawings on paper that take a different approach to visually exploring the same idea. Although the compositions are algorithmically generated and extremely “computer native”, I executed the final drawings by hand with a particularly sensitive medium. I wanted the deviations and imperfections introduced by the hand to come to the forefront in order to give a clear view of how differently the analog and digital world behave. Both works were part of my “Mechanical Hand” exhibition at @weareunitlondon last year in London. It’s amazing to have the pair, which focus on similar themes from different angles, go together into @LACMA collection.
