My math may not be 100% accurate, but this is along the right lines. March Madness is not quite an outlier, but more so an event of high sample sizes resulting in the low probability results happening here and there

If a team is favored to win a college basketball game by 10 points, they will project to win 80% of the time, roughly. In a tournament where more than 5 games will have that spread, an upset is very likely to occur given this probability.

None of my friends/groupchats have had any March Madness banter yet. The tournament is starting to move towards that Kentucky Derby level where people are excited about the pageantry of the event but there aren’t any stars or storylines.
