This particular take always made me upset because like… I was abused, and I remember when I got in new relationships all I wanted was to be HAPPY and COMFORTABLE and LOVED. Like despite everything I went through, I still wanted to be wanted and cherished but PROPERLY. It’s important for a character like Angel, who has spent decades being abused and never experiencing what being LOVED truly meant, to have that type of connection in his life with SOMEONE who truly wants him. It doesn’t undermine his growth as a survivor or character to have a romantic partner.
