@kungfupete @badmonk_uk @TimesSqKungFu Ringo Lam, maybe. Tsui's films felt like he was given old scripts written for Jackie Chan and was told to make something of them. Knock Off felt like a bad, but fun, First Strike sequel. Maybe could've paired him up with Corey Yuen again?

We rightfully celebrate Al Leong for a great colorful filmography but it always made me a little sad that he basically only got to do one thing 900 times. It wasn’t just that he always played an Asian henchman, but a henchman who had to slow down against v limited stars

Death Warrant [1990] Directed By: Deran Sarafian This is captured from the upcoming 4K UHD from @mvdentgroup which drops on Aug.11th mvdshop.com/products/death… Revisiting this JCVD classic in 4K was so much fun. The acting from this era was through the roof on how they sold expressions or as JCVD does here when he is stagger, you swear he was drunk lol. Good times.

Ringo Lam's Full Alert (1997) is a great cop and robber story. As Hong Kong is being handover to China, Lau Ching-Wan and Francis Ng Chun-Yu's souls are battered with every act of violence they commit chasing their goals. No gunshot is left unpunished.

BLADE OF FURY gives Ashton Chen possibly my favorite role of his to date and gives us tons of brutal and surprisingly violent hard hitting innovative choreography top notch wirework and fantastic camera movement! Action fans we’re feasting!

@ryansmith1983 @fredguy_ @BrndnStrssng You could just do with not explaining the guy backstory. Or just be like a martial arts oracticioner tbh. Bring back Van Samme-esque roles where the guy just happens to be good karate practicioner.

@fredguy_ @BrndnStrssng No one is handing out cheques dude lol its because the director wants to have these insane over the top fight sequences and the only way to explain one dude fighting off 75 trained mercenaries is he's some vague "black ops trained specialist"

@DanMillerPT @mykel_aGain Okay but you could do that with those guys as well. There's nothing stopping that from happening besides people wanting to see Statham do cool kicks and his ego. But with the right clothing and an specific direction he could totally pass as an everyman.

@JetKinen @mykel_aGain He was clumsy, mostly stumbling from one scenario to another, winging it as he went along. It wasn't slick, he wasn't skilled, & he was fucked up by the end of the movie, bloody & battered. He was an ordinary guy, who did an extraordinary thing.

Alan Ritchson says Hollywood action space needs more everyday protagonists like Indiana Jones who was a professor not just military or ex-military heroes. Alan Ritchson: One thing I'm trying to do is hark back to the '90s, when you would get protagonists like Indiana Jones, who was a professor and an archaeologist. This was not a government-trained CIA operative. My production company has deals split across town, and we're working hand in hand with a lot of studios to develop the future action space. Weirdly across the board, everybody is making content where the main character is former military or current military. I want to tell stories with protagonists who are more on their heels, less invincible, and less trained. It'll create a whole new sea of content where audiences can see themselves on screen. We need stories where protagonists are everyday people like plumbers or electricians caught up in extraordinary circumstances, but not necessarily prepared for it. Maria Sten: Totally agree. Excellent.
