Most Republicans don't even know that Governor Abbott has been fighting for Open Primaries against his own party by having his appointed Secretary of State Nelson serving at his pleasure try to dismiss the case filed by the Republican Party of Texas.

TEXAS SENATE RACE: One of the best examples of why SOS Nelson and Gov Abbott ought to stop fighting the Texas Republican Party's effort to close its primaries to Democrats is how they elevated James Talarico to a contender for Cornyn's US Senate seat. Talarico helped Democrats install their preferred Texas House Speaker over Republican objections. Dustin Burrows rewarded him with a leadership position. Now Talarico is running for Senate seat with that platform. Left of center Republicans elected via open primaries built his launchpad for him.

A year ago, a group of us went to Austin to testify for legislation aimed at protecting our communities from the consequences of irresponsible bail reform. It was a long day. It was emotional. But in the end, it was successful.

The average Texan has no idea of the breadth and depth of these special districts, MUDs and now MMDs. They operate with impunity, issuing debt and collecting property taxes.

If judges were truly doing their jobs and “helping clear the backlog,” then riddle me this Batman…
Why did we have to drive to Austin? Why did we have to sit there and relive the worst moments of our lives, testifying in front of the world about what was done to us and our families, just to get Proposition 3 passed?
Why did crime victims have to beg for change if the system was already working?
We didn’t do all that for fun. We did it because dangerous people were being let right back out, and crime victims were the ones paying the price.
Now suddenly it’s “they were doing their jobs”? No. If they were doing their jobs to begin with, we wouldn’t have had to fight this hard just to be heard.
Crime victims shouldn’t have to go to war for basic safety and accountability. That’s the system’s job. #Prop3
