@UnderdoneElm69 My point isn't that every edit is inherently bad, but it is that every edit implies a potential loss that could in theory devalue a work. And because value is subjective there's no way to objectively say someone is wrong for lamenting the change.

@UnderdoneElm69 You could say this is abstraction for its own sake, but I would still disagree. It is meaningful to lament the loss of an aspect you liked or even thought you would like from something due to an intermediary process. Not that every expression of that lament is justified tho.

@UnderdoneElm69 This doesn't account of mistakes where someone doesn't recognize what they're complaining about is already present originally, but in that case the error is clerical rather than philosophical

@UnderdoneElm69 to a core rather than something supplemental being lost might impact more people's experience, but it doesn't make people who lament the loss of something they want over the need to preserve an intent they don't feel are wrong necessarily.

@TW0HEADEDBEAST Dross is projecting in that line. He was literally that for the communist revolution. He saw the horrors of humanity and retreated mentally to his comfortable ideology. Then sat there as his brain was poisoned. He is everything Harry needs to avoid being.

Yes I am going to tell you that every upsetting work I've seen amd enjoyed was "fun". But really I think people should pivot to "engaging" just because its more encompassing. And yes, a core that is engaging is required for games, same for everything else.
Antonio Freyre - Merlino Games@merlino_games

"fun" being a requirement for games is what keeps this medium from being taken seriously you're going to tell me Requiem for a Dream, The Downward Spiral, Blood Meridian, Guernica, etc, are "fun"? masterpieces have to be interesting, not necessarily "fun"
