Stephen was a pioneer, a leader, immensely supportive of our industry and Association and a true friend. I’m so sad that he’s gone, we won’t see the like again. He always made me want to be better and I’m incredibly grateful to have known him. Condolences to his family and team

We are deeply saddened to share that our founder, Stephen Bernhard, passed away at the weekend at the age of 79. Stephen’s influence on Bernhard and Company and the global turf industry cannot be overstated. His vision, passion, and dedication built our global business from the ground up and continue to shape the way we operate today. Through innovation, education, and an unwavering belief in helping others succeed, Stephen touched an immeasurable number of lives across his more than 25 years of involvement with the BIGGA Delegation and other industry initiatives. His legacy lives on in our people, our values, and our work every day. We will miss him greatly and honour him by continuing to build on the extraordinary foundations he created. So sad to hear about Bill Lawson passing. An absolute stalwart of the Association, instrumental at the very beginning and cared deeply to his end. He’d call up every month to chat about the magazine and reminisce. An absolutely lovely gentleman who’ll be sadly missed by so many.

Everyone at BIGGA was saddened to hear of the death of BIGGA life member Bill Lawson, aged 91. Bill was head greenkeeper at Heswall Golf Club for over 30 years and was a former chairperson of the English & International Golf Greenkeepers Association, which preceded BIGGA. Our thoughts are with Bill’s family at this time.

Good to see you Stuart. Really enjoying presenting at these events and great to see so many clubs engaging in them. Good club governance is absolutely critical, especially to the golf club workforce who are so integral to the experience we golfers enjoy.
