I’ve gone deep into barefoot boots, but for Africa, @JimGreenFW beats Vivo. Vivos are light, flexible, and quiet. But in big tough thorns, they fail. Thorns come in from the side and even punch through the sole. I honestly thought when I yanked an inch of acacia out of my foot that the trip might be over. Drenched the hole in triple antibiotic and got lucky.

Our Boots for Rangers posts always come with much excitement however, our recent post hit different… We received an update from @The_GRAA after our post went live. That the HQ of Upemba National Park was targeted with an attack by armed unidentified assailants😔. The camp was ransacked and looted of resources vital for their team to carry out their operations, full control has since been restored to the camp with thanks to the help of security forces and the Forces Armées de la République Démocratique du Congo (FARDC). News like this reminds us of the service these rangers and individuals dedicate their lives to, and all for the passion of protecting wildlife🙏. With this news, we were sadly informed that there were fatalities in the attack😔. We salute the entire team at Upemba National Park and hold them in our thoughts as they go through this challenging time🙏 #BootsForRangers #JimGreen #MyJimGreens

Before the sun rises over Lake Upemba, rangers gather at Lusinga HQ, salute the flag, and head out on patrol, sometimes for days at a time, into one of Africa’s most embattled national parks.🌅 Located in the Southeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Upemba National Park spans more than 13 000 km² of lakes, wetlands, and savannah. After decades of conflict, wildlife is slowly returning. In 2016, the park’s zebra population had dropped to just 35😔 Today, more than 197 remain roam free🦓🇨🇩 Through the Boots for Rangers initiative, a partnership between Jim Green Footwear and the @The_GRAA 280 pairs of Jim Green AR8 boots now support the rangers protecting this landscape.🙌🏼🥾 In Upemba, conservation isn’t about comfort.
