When Derek Carr broke his leg on Christmas Eve, worst night ever.

What was the worst moment in your sports fandom??

@exQUIZitely I loved Kyrandia the most of those four. But my favorite of this 90s genre was Eric the Unready!

@exQUIZitely Diablo was the game for me. So many hours in those dungeons!

@KeithRicci I appreciate the balanced and measured response. I'm enjoying this offseason ... but I'll reserve my real excitement for when it matters.

"I'd say it's 50/50 whether Crosby plays for the Raiders or not this year. If I had to bet on flipping that coin, I would bet he still goes somewhere else for a little bit less than what the Ravens offered."
– @RossTuckerNFL on Maxx Crosby and the #Raiders.

@exQUIZitely The first Descent was one of the hardest games I ever played. So disorienting!

Today, Descent II celebrates its 30th birthday.
Published on March 13, 1996, it is considered by fans to be the best in the franchise. One of its biggest strengths was the complete freedom of movement: no limitations, total six degrees of freedom (which set it apart from other FPS games at the time). But it also came at the cost of sometimes feeling lost or even nauseous.
The guide bot helped reduce disorientation, but you still needed a strong stomach for the rollercoaster sensation of flying through tight corners and labyrinth-like mine layouts.
Happy 30th, and thanks for the memories!

@exQUIZitely Loved this game! It was the only game that scratched my old Starflight itch!

Some games were truly epic in the grandest sense of the word. Elite with its massive universe comes to mind, or EVE Online much, much later.
Star Control II (also known as The Ur-Quan Masters, released in 1992 by Accolade) belongs to that very small group of massive world games. It is set in an open galaxy with over 500 stars and thousands of planets.
Humanity has lost a devastating war to the tyrannical Ur-Quan, who enslave or imprison defeated species. Gameplay revolves mostly around exploration of the vast galaxy, diplomacy, and real-time combat sequences.
For 1992 the scope and depth of this game was absolutely incredible.

@exQUIZitely The UI sure takes some getting used to nowadays, ... but it's free on Steam!

@JimHart1964 100% agree, need to revisit that one. Great times ❤️

Do you remember a game that completely blew you away; one you found so incredibly fascinating and addictive that you remember it to this day?
It was a rare feeling, but here are four that are forever hardwired into my brain:
1) Lemmings - an absolute masterpiece and totally novel concept at the time. One of the most unique games I ever played.
2) Dune II - while not the first RTS, definitely the one with one of the highest pop-culture impacts. It felt like a massive leap forward, trailblazing the path and popularizing a whole genre.
3) Civilization - to this day, the game I admire the most. It felt like the biggest and most “open world” experience at the time, with endless replayability and total freedom to play your way.
4) Another World - rarely, if ever, have I played a game with a more immersive vibe. No text, no words—all storytelling through “being there,” making you feel so deeply connected with the main character. The intro alone was enough to hook me instantly.
So, what’s your “OMFG this is incredible” game that has stuck with you all these years?

Will Fernando Mendoza start right out the gate or be eased in? @AdamSchefter this morning on the #Raiders' plans at QB:
"The plan is not to rush him. That doesn't mean he won't wind up as the starting quarterback. We're six months from games. But in a perfect world... they'd like to have the backup QB ready for opening day. We've heard many teams say that, and the No. 1 overall pick comes in and they can't help themselves and they can't resist, and he starts on opening day. They can say whatever they want six months in advance, but in the interim, they're building their roster to set it up for... whenever Fernando Mendoza does start, whether that's Week 1, Week 8, or Week 16. They are getting the center, they're building up the defense, there's a lot of work to do... They went on a shopping spree that was unrivaled everywhere but Tennessee yesterday."
Geno Smith will be released and unsigned veteran FA QBs include Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, and Jimmy Garoppolo.

@rosethaaartist Noticed that as well. I know COVID supposedly messed with the ability to taste. I wonder...
