SKYWARN spotters are very important during major weather events, providing real time ground truth about severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, flooding, winter hazards etc. The real-time weather spotter information helps inform warning decisions and verify ongoing hazardous weather.

Brendon Rubin-Oster, Lead Meteorologist at National Weather Service (NWS) Balt/Wash Forecast Ofc. will teach a SKYWARN class at GMU on 10/13 from 12 to 2 pm in Johnson Center Meeting Room F. NWS SKYWARN trains the public to be citizen weather spotters.
