@immi_croissant @reb40 not going to lie, we all like it when the price goes up so when it goes down it sucks.. but the last time the price was here the expectation for earnings for this year - at least mine were *much lower* than they are now.. there is still loads of evidence for growth going forward
English

@JimWall84 @reb40 Price action must tell you something. You like it when price is high and paper profits on your folio look good. Reassured this quality. The inverse must also be true.
English

@immi_croissant @reb40 it's an illiquid stock - the price action doesn't tell you anything.. just the last of the bowl spotters heading for the exit in a weak market..

@JimWall84 Got a free whisky bottle from #art, and loosey goosey is the perfect description of the holdings check!

Here's a trade if you like shopping:
Next #nxt have a shareholder benefit where if you own 100 shares on April 1st, you get a one-time-use 25% off voucher valid for 6 months.
To get it, you need 100 shares, and *today* is the day to buy them for April 1st settle ... you can then sell them tomorrow if want.
Unfortunately, they're one of the few UK stocks that trades at a huge price, so that's ~£12,380 worth.
Another issue is stamp duty + brokerage cost to take into account (and obviously a potential loss if the stock drops). For my account it looks like ~£70 cost.
But if you're a big shopper, or away to lift a sofa set from Next Home or something, maybe it makes sense 🤷♂️

There needs to be a intermediate step between this godawful fiscal whack-a-mole and going to the IMF

@itsjacksworld This is a genuinely amazing place but why on earth would you want only 4 days there?
English

This is the most insane region on Earth and 99.9% of people have no clue it exists.
Spreads through Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia. You can do the whole thing in a 4-day overland trip.
- Salar de Uyuni: world’s largest salt flat, turns into a perfect mirror when it rains
- Atacama Desert: driest desert on earth, Milky Way views here makes US national parks look like parking lots
- Geysers del Tatio: 14,000 ft, erupts at dawn, better than Yellowstone and you’ll be nearly alone
- Valle de la Luna: Legit Mars terrain, but on Earth
- Laguna Colorada: blood-red lake full of flamingos at 14,000 ft. Should not exist
- Quebrada de Humahuaca: 14-color mountain range that makes the Grand Canyon look boring
- Cerro Rico, Potosí: mountain full of silver that funded the entire Spanish Empire for 200 years. still being mined today
Yes it’s safe. Yes it’s cheap.
If you don’t make it here in your lifetime, you’re massively missing out.

#III -28% ytd. Trading below BV which is a rarity.
LfL growth guidance is the culprit along with slight easing in margin guidance. There could also be fears re USA expedition.
Feels like total over-reaction as growth not dead & US trial is small, but I'm biased as l/t holder.
English

I've considered being a landlord, would quite like to own more property in my area, but it takes over 6yrs of rent JUST TO PAY THE STAMP DUTY BILL
For a nice place, you'll pay around 14% stamp duty
You'll maybe get a 4% all-in yield, which you'll pay at least 45% tax on (above £75k income pays this in 🏴)
So you'll net 0.55 * 4% = 2.2%
You need 6.4 years of that 2.2% to cover your 14% stamp duty.
That's a hard pass from me.
Have fun finding a cheap place to rent!

@Hawkeye_74 #GDWN will do 80mm in EBITDA this year vs an EV on 980.. so call it 12x
English

@Hawkeye_74 18.5x EBITDA on the London Stock Exchange in the year of our Lord 2026? Godspeed!
English

@JimWall84 It's valued on 18.5x rolling EBITDA which it has been for a number of years. The European roll out has just entered Switzerland, Romania & Croatia and interestingly they have never entered UK as too competitive.
Poor performance in France is the root of the LfL fears.

The FCA are a disgrace.. worth noting that two of the worst decisions made in recent years - the leniency shown to Bank of London and to Jes Staley in his whistleblower saga involved Epstein associates..meanwhile for the heinous crime of fare dodging 👇🏻

Dan Neidle@DanNeidle
This is totally normal. Lots of banks provide fake documents to the FCA and then just continue as if nothing happened. It’s all fine.

@bigbigdave_ @UKstockpicker Their long term record speaks to elite business acumen. When Richard and John W Goodwin took over from their father in 1994 the prevailing average PBT was 200k.. they took that to 24mm in 2014 and their sons have taken in to > 71mm today .. Richard and John W still involved
