Your post about this got only complete positivity. I don't think anyone questions people in your situation but the system is clearly in need of amendment. I’m really struggling with the ableism regarding NDIS. I was a clinical nurse consultant for 30 years, I’ve paid my taxes. I have multiple sclerosis, it took me a long time to swallow my pride and apply for help. The hate on here makes me feel worthless.

The NDIS was never envisaged to cost this much and there is absolutely waste, fraud and over-coverage in the system. It's long overdue for an overhaul. Finally some fiscal responsibility. Either way, state royalties are generated for WA and QLD, high wages for blue collar workers, seems like everyone wins?

What's their revenue since 2011? What's their effective tax rate since 2011? PAYG isn't a cost to Woodside, it's a cost to the employee - irrelevant. Govt (aka you and me) pays in infrastructure, regulatory approvals, under-recovered rent on public resources. None of anything you said shows a fair deal for the owners of those resources (Us!). Weirdly, these private companies still operate in countries that recover orders of magnitude more rent than Australia. We're completely captured by lobbies and you're perpetuating their BS talking points. The time for a fair return is now!

@TheAusInstitute Woodside pays 45% tax rate on income (FY25). Since 2011 Woodside has paid approximately A$25 billion in Australian taxes and paid wages to Australian employees and generated more than A$5 billion (PAYG). The govt hasn’t had to pay a cent to develop the gas either (all free) !
