Mass Effect 1 was a flawed masterpiece with room for improvement. Mass Effect 2 decided it didn't want to improve those things. So it threw them out. And did 200 other things we never needed it to do. It did those things well, but even so. We never asked for them.
Isaac Young@HariSel57511397

While Mass Effect 3 resolved terribly, the real culprit to killing the franchise is ME2, which wasted a whole game on a functional side quest instead of building up the Reaper Invasion (relegated to a dlc) and more importantly, how to stop the Reapers.

@jondelarroz I've been rewatching all 119 episodes. I have the last season left. I think it's still pretty good. Some episodes are better than others. It's a mix of campiness and some serious stuff. Worked for the time. I like it a lot. Adrian Paul is the Highlander to me.

Analysis: A US-Iran Deal and the Role of Gulf States in Reinforcing the PetrodollarA transactional US-Iran agreement in which Iran commits to pricing and settling its oil trades primarily in US dollars, shares crossing fees in the Strait of Hormuz with the United States, and receives conditional American military and security backing in return would represent a significant pragmatic reset of regional energy and security dynamics.Critically, this arrangement would not sideline Saudi Arabia or the UAE. Instead, the Gulf states would almost certainly be brought into the deal as active participants. Their inclusion prevents the perception that the US is legitimizing Iran at their expense and ensures that the petrodollar system is reinforced rather than fractured. By joining the framework, Saudi and the UAE would co-manage Hormuz fees, help enforce safe passage, and ensure Iran adheres to the same dollar-based pricing rules they already follow. This maintains their strategic leverage while neutralizing a key rival under American oversight. The result is a broader, Gulf-inclusive dollar bloc with the US positioned as the central guarantor and beneficiary of a portion of the fees. For the United States, the deal generates new revenue, shores up dollar dominance against de-dollarization pressures, stabilizes global oil markets, and allows limited engagement abroad without overextension consistent with an America First approach that prioritizes the Western Hemisphere.Europe benefits from resumed, predictable energy flows at more stable prices, though some resentment may linger over US extraction of fees from a chokepoint Europe relies upon.Globally, the agreement reduces recession risks from sustained high oil prices, limits China’s ability to expand yuan-based oil trade through Iran, and buys time for the existing financial order even as multipolar trends continue. In short, folding the Gulf states into the deal transforms what could have been a risky bilateral bargain into a wider, stabilizing compact. It puts a pen in the ink well on the Hormuz crisis while preserving  and arguably strengthening the core architecture of dollar-denominated oil trade that has underpinned global energy markets for decades.

Emmanuel Macron
Emmanuel Macron@EmmanuelMacron·
I spoke today with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, as well as with U.S. President Donald Trump. I told both of them that their decision to accept a ceasefire was the best possible one. I expressed my hope that the ceasefire will be fully respected by each of the belligerents, across all areas of confrontation, including in Lebanon. This is a necessary condition for the ceasefire to be credible and lasting. It must open the way to comprehensive negotiations capable of ensuring security for all in the Middle East. Any agreement will have to address the concerns raised by Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, as well as its regional policy and its actions obstructing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. This is how a strong and lasting peace can be built, with the support of all those who are able to contribute to it. France will play its full part, in close coordination with its partners in the Middle East. This is also what I discussed today in my exchanges with the leaders of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Iraq.
