5 years ago today, April 9th, 2021. I walked out of my full time job for the last time. Left it all behind. Left the salary. Left the security. Left the benefits. And while some questioned the move.. And maybe sometimes there’s moments where I have as well.. it’s 5 years of answering to nobody but myself. I pushed all the chips in. Went all in. Gambled on myself. And well, I’m still standing. Has to count for something.
I’ve been at this game for 19 years. Since 2006 my dream was to be the best at what I do. While I always thought I had the talent and the personality, I’ve been overlooked for close to 2 decades.
WWE, TNA, AEW, MLW.. they’ve all been set in their ways and always make the right “PR” move. I’ve gotten to do some very cool things with some of these companies, but never got that offer that I coveted. The same stuff that happened to me with the Brooklyn Nets.
My biggest flaw and detriment to my game is that I don’t kiss the right ass. I don’t worship everyone else and throw them up on pedestals to get ahead. Those who are in higher positions than me have done that so many times over. I’m not even mad. Not bitter. Not sad. I just kinda shrug my shoulders and keep doing my thing.
Over the weekend my work was praised by some significant people. Some who have been to those places I’ve just mentioned. It felt incredible to see that the owners of ACW respect my hustle. I don’t ask for thousands of dollars. I ask for a fair rate that enables to cover some travel and time away from my family. I don’t ask for hotels. I just get my ass back home even if it takes a few hours in the late hours of the night. It’s pretty simple. I’m not the only one telling you that I’m worth it, now there’s others.
What am I missing? I don’t know at this point. I’m 40. Those “get the contract” dreams may be running low on fuel but my passion and desire to be the best at EVERY SINGLE THING I DO is always a FULL TANK. All gas, no fckin brakes! Til the next one!
@DaveSturchio I am old but right. Comebacks are now one pass. College OT are superior in every way. And why only ten minutes? Maybe they should just go time of possession??? Soft league.
Free agent guard Landry Shamet has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the New York Knicks, his agent George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group tells ESPN. Shamet stays with the Knicks for his 8th NBA season.
@Yankees@Giancarlo818 Boone has such an easy decision now. He can play Stanton in left or right or short maybe pitch a few innings...maybe coach third for a little....
I had the privilege to interview NBA Champion @okcthunder and @WacoUbasketball alum Kenrich Williams at his “Celebrate the Champ Block Party”
