Generational tweet that might even spawn a school of architecture.

There's a common misconception that Brutalist buildings were unpainted, but thanks to microscopic analysis of the exteriors we can now recreate what they looked like in their prime.

The linked article states that, for Loudoun County in Virginia, the money the county takes in from data centers comes from 2 places:
-real property taxes (on the data center buildings themselves)
- personal property taxes (on the servers & equipment inside the buildings)
The part of the article I’m including a picture of refers to expected 2027 revenue, but the article also includes a lot of interesting history and information about how Loudoun has used tax revenue from data centers as a dependable source for decades.
My bias approaching the article was that the claim data centers provide revenue to local governments was going to be a typical business slight-of-hand in which those promises are never realized because when the time comes the corporations inevitably have further methods to avoid actually paying the taxes that would generate the revenue promised. However, at least in this Loudoun County example, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

How do they generate a lot of tax revenue?
They literally have no employees.
The companies that own them pay NO TAX.
And YOU subsidise their electricity costs.
So actually they COST you money.

Many people do not seem to want data centres built near them, despite the fact that they don't cause that much traffic and often generate a lot of local tax revenue. I suspect it's partly because they're ugly! My proposal:
