It’s probably in poor taste to say too much specifically about Justice KBJ. Her comments really speak for themselves. But it remains true that DEI systematically elevated a large number of deeply unqualified and unserious people to roles where they are now doing tremendous damage, partly due to sheer incompetence, partly due to the sorts of ideological factors associated with being a DEI beneficiary. The question of how we navigate unwinding this in the years ahead remains open.

@badbirb @BrianRoemmele My first thought was desert and arid regions with sparse population. It is just a matter of energy+work to transform and maintain an “oasis” in a desert.

Hello ███████ -R̶E̶D̶A̶C̶T̶E̶D̶-
Frankly I wasn't even thinking terraforming, just simple livability. Good example - living in an inhospitable place can be pretty terrible if you are in a mobile home, but much better in a mansion. The expansion of labor and goods/materials would enable far more people to have a good lifestyle, even in places that are not very easy to live in otherwise. I think of places like Qatar or UAE. Money and tech enabled them to build quite nice places where only bedouins could live before.

Are you fully prepared for the Neo-Luddites? They will make the last two decades look like paradise as the political class rides them like a cheap donkey to try to inflict their dying proletariat class struggles as the classes disappear. Don’t guess what is next we have a map:

@lsferguson Kind of the more interesting question for sure. Like let’s say @TulsiGabbard finds actionable objective proof it was a sham. Does she release the information? Would the republic even be able to digest that information or would we see a massive breakdown in civil order?

@XFreeze Aluminum alloys 2219 and 7075 preform better than stainless at cryogenic temperatures. He used stainless as a lower quality cost cutting measure. He's never considered physics, he only cares about hype and marketing

Everyone thought the future was carbon fiber Elon Musk looked at the physics and chose stainless steel for Starship instead Sounds insane.... until you realize stainless gets stronger at cryogenic temperatures, handles reentry heat better, and costs massively less than advanced composites. It doesn't even need paint He chose a material that is faster to build, easier to weld, tougher in extreme conditions, and built for rapid iteration Classic Elon: ignore convention, trust first-principles engineering, and pick the solution everyone else missed He is taking science fiction and making it real. Building things that only existed in imagination, and pushing them to the absolute limits of physics

Thanks for the response. After considering your ideas it seemed to me like land rights might be the last “finite” good until expansion beyond earth is practical. But the more I think about what the possibility of cheap robotic labor+energy+materials can create the more I realize land will be abundant because even inhospitable places could be terraformed. I also think an episode on how everyone having the ability to make their own micro towns/ conclaves and guilds will fundamentally dismantle old world concepts like national states, political sovereignty and even national identity.

Thanks for asking. It would work as it does now but ALL land now becomes far more valuable because your robots making robots and new free energy makes any land more useful. My math shows if all current population wanted beach front or lake front land, they could and have miles of separation. But most will want to be in other places.

@badbirb @BrianRoemmele Interesting point. If you consider cheap energy, materials and robotic labor you could achieve significant terraforming in places traditionally considered inhospitable/undesirable.

Hello ███████ -R̶E̶D̶A̶C̶T̶E̶D̶-
Part of this is that techology makes many inhospitable places workable. A huge part of why people think the world is so small is part our population is very concentrated in easily hospitable places. If you can leverage energy, robot labor, and technology you can make currently inhospitable places usable.

@BrianRoemmele Thank you for producing this! Can you help illuminate how this applies to the one remaining finite resource that can’t be replicated i.e. land? I’m curious how to think about people/guilds wanting to spread out, be off grid and independent. How will land ownership and purchase rights be affected?

@May_Roma I love learning about random things like this. I never would have guessed Commando was such a hit! It’s an older movie, good but we Americans don’t think of it as an instant classic.

One thing that struck me was how little kids we were always told America was the “melting pot” of the world. But it’s not true anymore. Immigrants no longer seek to “melt” and assimilate into American culture. They seek to come here and just be what they were before. It is encouraged by deranged liberal leftists. And it is destroying common heritage. Neighbors don’t k ow each other, kids can’t relate. Everything is divided. It sucks. The irony is that diversity agendas are destroying diversity around the world. Soon there will be no distinct cultures.
