I flew too close to the Greggs sun. The chicken bake betrayed me. Send electrolytes. @GreggsOfficial

I can’t believe this even needs to be said. The age of misinformation and lies is terrifying.

The more I look into the medico-legal aspects of PA’s and legal protections for residents working with them, the more frustrated I become. Never mind the pay disparity! I genuinely feel joy and hope at the prospect of leaving the NHS in August to work abroad. #nhs #BMA

Furthermore there is no medico-legal protections for residents when discussing cases with PAs in senior positions. Full responsibility fall on the doctor. It’s so frustrating. I’m so glad to be leaving.

@wesstreeting @pa_StephenNash Quackery is what has been permitted. Non medically qualified individuals being encouraged to practise medicine. That’s not progressive or innovative. It’s regression to an era before the Medical Act and patients were harmed then and have been harmed today.

@thecarolemalone very simple question, would you work for less money than your assistant? because that is what doctors currently do.

The way @thecarolemalone is speaking to a guest, is unacceptable. But she believes in capitalism, she wouldn’t work for less than x amount. So why should doctors work more, for less money. Clips like this make me think sod it, privatise everything and see how people like it then.

🔴 I believe Dr. Ross did very well in staying calm in front of this illiterate Karen and the other guys who are attacking doctors. It’s worth mentioning that @theJeremyVine ‘s salary at the BBC for 2023/2024 is in the range of £285,000–£289,999 for doing nothing, and yet he had the audacity to comment on doctors’ pay. This is another reason doctors should continue to strike.

Stayed 2.5 hrs late trying to sort out a patient. I’m all for patient advocacy but families screaming at me and telling me I’m doing nothing doesn’t make things happen faster. Context very stable but complex patient needing tertiary input 😭

UKRDC has announced a strike ballot to run from 27th May to 7th July. Wes Streeting is taking us on a journey to nowhere. He failed to commit to negotiate or to a plan to restoring our pay by 2027. Doctors’ pay is down 22%. Get ballot ready now. bit.ly/updatedetails25

It is a national scandal that we have underemployed and under-utilised doctors in the NHS, despite soaring waiting lists. 1000s of doctors are being held back from being able to train as specialists. The government can address this by urgently increasing training numbers now.
Resident Doctors@BMAResidents

Reports from @FT show 6k+ applicants for just 1700 training posts last year. Doctors are being left in limbo, without posts and unable to progress in their career. In an understaffed NHS this is a scandal. Government must urgently increase training posts. ft.com/content/ddb51e…

So incredibly disappointing. Doctors aren’t choosing LED posts. There are not enough training posts. Why is the GMC so against its own doctors? Why are they twisting the narrative like a sleazy politician?
GMC@gmcuk

We're pleased to share the second in our annual series of #StateOfMed reports – Workforce. This focuses on the changing shape of the medical workforce across the UK. This year’s report shows that the medical register continues to grow, as does the diversity of the doctors on it. Doctors’ career paths are also changing, with more doctors than ever before choosing locally employed (LE) roles, working outside of formal postgraduate training pathways and with local contracts. In England and Wales, where data is currently available to us, the number of LE doctors grew by 75% between 2019 and 2023 – this makes this the fastest growing cohort on the register. As we look to the next decade, it’s critical that all doctors have the infrastructure, support and resources they need to achieve their ambitions. That’s in the interests of doctors, as well as the interests of a growing and ageing population. Discover more insights and key statistics by reading the report on our website gmc-uk.org/-/media/docume…
